Pay as you go
No plan, nothing recurring: buy a pack and spend it whenever. Credits never expire and never change your plan — on a subscription they simply sit on top of the monthly allowance. Steps bought this way cost about 15% more than the same steps inside a plan, which is the trade for not committing to one.

Then use it. The extension has always run on your own key, and that path is not going anywhere: open Settings → Your own key, paste it, and the panel talks to OpenRouter directly. Nothing routes through us, we never see the key, and there is nothing to pay us for.
The plan exists because most people do not want a second account, a prepaid balance and a key in their clipboard just to try an agent. If you already have all three, the honest answer is that you do not need us in the middle — you are paying for the models either way, and on your own key you pay for them at cost.
How the meter works
You are charged for what the models actually cost
Every response from the provider carries its own cost. We read that figure, apply the plan's markup, and take it off your balance — so a decision on a small page costs less than one on a huge page, instead of both being billed at some average we invented.
A failed call is not a charge
Credits are held before each call and returned in full if the provider errors or times out. Nothing is billed for an action that never happened.
